Overview
Sukui ("we," "us") provides a bilingual Christian resource platform: an AI chatbot, devotionals, and (soon) a video library. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how it is handled. It applies to sukui.org and www.sukui.org.
The AI chatbot ("Ask")
Messages you send are processed to generate a response: your text (and any images you attach) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API, and — to find relevant Scripture — your message is also sent to OpenAI to create a search embedding. Your conversation history is stored only in your browser's local storage; it is not saved on our servers, and clearing it (or your browser data) removes it completely. We do not use your conversations to train any AI model.
Rate limiting
To keep the chatbot available to everyone, we track request counts per visitor for a rolling one-hour window. Your IP address is converted to a one-way SHA-256 hash (salted with a private value) before it is ever stored — we do not store, and cannot recover, your raw IP address from this data.
The contact form
When you use the Connect page, your name, email, and message are sent as an email to our inbox via our email provider (Resend). We do not save the contents of your message in a database — it exists as the email you sent us. We reply to the address you provide.
Donations
If you choose to give, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. Sukui never receives, sees, or stores your card number or other payment details — Stripe processes the transaction and tells us only the amount and whether it succeeded.
Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand aggregate traffic and site performance. These tools are cookie-free by design and do not build a personal profile of individual visitors.
Who we share data with
The service providers above (Anthropic, OpenAI, Supabase, Vercel, Resend, and — for donations — Stripe) process data on our behalf as necessary to run the site. We do not sell your information to anyone, for any purpose.
Data retention
Chat history lives only in your browser until you clear it. Rate-limit records are tied to a rolling one-hour window and are not kept indefinitely. We do not maintain a database of contact-form submissions or chat transcripts.
Children
Sukui is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your options
You can clear your chat history at any time using the "Clear" button in the chat, or by clearing your browser's local storage. For any other question about your data, reach out via the Connect page.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change meaningfully, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
